Corporate Relations and Placement Division (CRPD) is an independent
Division of the Institute. The mandate for the Division is to pursue
active relationship building with the corporate sector and the civil
society in India and abroad. This relationship is supposed to yield
meaningful linkages of the Institute with the industry and appropriate
induction of the students of the Institute's flagship MBA International
Business Full Time Programme and MBA Business Analytics Full Time Programme
in the corporate world.
Placement Committee, which is an elected body of the students of the MBA
International Business Full Time Program, functions under the Corporate
Relations and Placement Division. Placement Committeehas the mandate to
reach out to the corporate sector and administer the summer internships
and the final placements process at the Institute. The placement
committee is guided by the Head of the Division in these endeavours. The
Placement Committee does the pitching, inviting company stalwarts for
guest lectures, engaging corporate sector for the summer internship
programme and securing final placements of the graduating students. The
Institute has an impeccable record of getting the students placed in the
reputed business organizations in India and abroad. The institute has an
impressive array of luminous alumni who occupy important positions in
the corporate world.
CRPD is located at the Delhi Campus of Indian Institute of Foreign Trade
and is headed by Prof. (Dr) Rohit Mehtani, Professor of Global Political
Economy and International Business Strategy at the Institute. He is
assisted by a competent staffin the Division. Besides, Dr Tamanna
Chaturvedi and Dr R. P. Sharma are the faculty coordinators for the
placement activities at the Delhi and Kolkata Campuses of the Institute,
respectively.
About the Head of the Corporate Relations and
Placement Division
Dr Rohit Mehtani is with the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New
Delhi at the level of Professor in the domain of International
Business Strategy, International Business Diplomacy and Global
Political Economy. He is the Head of the Corporate Relations
Division at the Institute. He has a PhD in International Studies in
the area of Global Political Economy and Trade Diplomacy. He has had
the distinction of being a recipient of the prestigious British
Chevening Scholarship of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the
UK Government which gave him an opportunity to study for Masters in
Global Political Economy at the University of Hull in England and
participating in a study tour to the European Institutions in
Brussels at the time when economic and monetary union was in
progress during the post-Maastricht period.

Professor Mehtani pursued Masters in Industrial Management at NPC,
MBA Technology Management at Deakin University in Australia along with
M.S. in Consultancy Practice and Management at BITS Pilani. He completed
his post graduate studies in international trade at Indian Institute of
Foreign Trade, New Delhi and post graduate studies in international
business at Indian Institute of Management Calcutta which also included
a course work at Shanghai in the People's Republic of China. He
completed his undergraduate studies in pure science at the Hindu
College, a leading college of the University of Delhi.
Professor Mehtani is a visiting professor to several premier business
schools and institutions in India and abroad and actively engages in
consultancy projects. He brings with him a unique blend of experience of
having worked with the corporate sector, industry associations, and
business schools. Prior to joining IIFT he was Directorat the Federation
of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO), an assignment, which in turn was
preceded by more than a decade long stint with the corporate sector
engaged mostly in the international business division of reputed
organizations.
He conducted an extensive market survey in the countries surrounding the
Mediterranean region, that is, WANA and Southern Europe, and North East
and Far East Asia. He has been on the governing council of the
Consultancy Development Centre, New Delhi and has led several exporters'
delegation at the highest level including the one to South Africa in
1997 that accompanied the then Prime Minister of India. Most recently,
he was part of a delegation to the fourth India-EU Forum organized by
the European Union Institute for Security Studies (EUISS) in Brussels.
At IIFT New Delhi he has conducted several management development
programmes for the senior executives from the leading Indian and
multinational corporations, officials from the public domain and foreign
diplomats. He is a prolific writer and writes regularly in reputed
journals and has spoken at important forums like the Bharat Ram Memorial
Lecture at FICCI. His book on International Business Strategy
co-authored with Prof Charles W. Hill of the University of Washington
and Prof Hult of the Michigan State University is being used as a
standard text in leading business schools.
