Datt & Sundharam's Indian Economy (Co-authored with Gaurav Datt), 73rd Edition S. Chand & Co. Ltd, Oct, 2023

Synopsis: This is a flagship publication on Indian Economy. We have made a fresh attempt to re-write the book to capture the spirit of evoloving Indian economy. The book focuses on contemporary issues without diluting the core development agenda of the economy. It logically connects the past with the present providing literature survey and  highlighting different dimensions and arguments by researchers.  Further, several new areas such as technology, global value chain, etc have been brought to understand India's engagement with the World. In depth discussion on social issues such as poverty & inequality, emplpyment, health & nutrition, education, food security, etc with respect to growing population and government's efforts to mitigate challenges are important components of the book. This is in addition to standard discussion on GDP, agriculture, industry, services, money & banking, etc. The readers wil get a comprehensive picture of Indian Economy from this book

India’s Trade Analytics: Patterns and Opportunities (Co-edited with Debashis Chakraborty) Sage Publications, (Feb, 2019)

Synopsis: The book provides a structured application of major concepts and methodologies in trade analytics, geared towards identification of export markets and products as well as their competitiveness. It is designed as a practical guide for economics and management graduates, researchers, corporate executives and policy-makers, India’s Trade Analytics familiarizes the readers with various technical approaches to the analysis of international trade flows, market identification and competitiveness measurement procedures. The book also addresses emerging issues in international trade patterns along with the description of standard trade indices and trade modelling techniques. It aims to enable the readers to adopt modelling and analytical tools as relevant to their research problem. The chapters are closely woven with India’s trade issues at both macro and micro levels. While the macro aspects include the analysis at the country level (i.e., overall trade indices for India involving its trade partners), the product-specific analysis (e.g., competitiveness for individual export items from India at disaggregated level) is conducted in the micro discussions. https://in.sagepub.com/en-in/sas/indias-trade-analytics/book26877

  • Business Innovation and ICT Strategies (November, 2018) (Co-auhored with Sriram Birudavolu); Palgrave Macmillan (Springer); (Dec, 2018)

Synopsis: Due to powerful, disruptive and rapid forces unleashed by ICT tsunami, organisations not only struggle to harness the potential of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) but can also be overwhelmed by the changes, complexity, competition and regulatory environment it brings up. In this context, the book draws the idea from the theories of economics & strategy and provides a guideline how to sustain business challenges and succeed by leveraging ICT in absence of extensive in-house expertise.  It investigates the real process of unleashing the power of ICT through Open Innovation and strategic choices. It covers the most important aspects of ICT in a nutshell and details the road to the future through business innovation. Constructing the right strategy and building the social capital for open innovation through collaboration with partners, government, academia and users are essential steps in such a process.

  • My World with Rafiki: An Economic Travelogue and Miscellany( November, 2014); Partridge (A Penguin Random House Publishing)

Synopsis: “Rafiki” means “friend” in Kiswahili language, which is spoken in a large part of Africa. The book reflects the author’s own way of detailing the importance of cooperation for Indian managers in international business as part of his teaching in MBA class. Countries are engaged in international trade for ages, companies do business with partners from other countries, but understanding the business environment is essential for success. Author describes the role of history, culture, religion, politics, etc., in economic policy-making especially in the contemporary developing world, including India. The book is full of anecdotal evidence linked with policies and practices that have made it an articulate polemic and provide a counterintuitive look toward understanding the business environment. The book is availble in Amazon, Flipkart, Barnes & Noble, Google Play, etc.
